Apple’s products are well-known for their products having outstanding battery life, with the obvious exception of the Apple Watch ‘clocking’ in at around 1-2 days. The iPhone 6 has relatively good battery, and the iPhone 6 Plus having very good battery lasting between 1-2 days. Although lately I have been using my phone more often and have noticed that I’d end up with around 10-20% of my battery left by the end of the day. Since I’ve been busy with juggling school, friends and work lately I decided it would be best to try out a new charging case for my iPhone 6.
The 1byone iPhone 6/6s Battery Charger Case was sent to me by 1byone as a review unit, and came in a plain box with a window to see the product, with the actual product itself has a nice friendly aesthetic to it. You can choose from a variety of colors such as White, Gray or Black, but I figured gold would give my Space Grey iPhone a new look. Without even having to look at the instructions it came with, I popped off my old $12 iPhone case and slid my phone into the new battery case, popped on the bumper cover to secure it in place and I was all set.
To make sure my charge was full all I had to do was hold down the power button on the back of the case for a few seconds, and it is displayed by four LED lights on the back whilst it also charges your phone. It was a little low, so all I had to do was plug the supplied USB cable into the bottom of the case and into a USB wall outlet charger such as the one supplied by the iPhone. Weirdly enough, when I plugged it into the wall my case was charging but not the phone, so all I had to do was hold down the power button and both the phone and case were able to charge simultaneously. Easy enough for me!
Another strange thing about this case is the way the headphone jack works, which 1byone had a nice workaround for. The case comes supplied with a 3.5mm adapter that extends the port out for you, in which case you can now plug in any set of headphones without having to worry about it fitting into the bottom of the case. While not optimal and easy to lose, it is a very convenient adapter since some cases will not do anything about the issues caused by irregular 3.5mm headphone jacks.
The best part about the 1byone iPhone 6 battery case is, of course, its charging functionality. This case boasts a 3100mAh battery which has helped by battery make its way from about 35% to 85-90% over the span of maybe two hours, especially helpful in situations such as using the GPS in the car which will suck down my battery like there is no tomorrow. As opposed to having to go out of your way to look for a charger or borrow one while you’re out with friends, all you have to do is press a button and continue on with whatever you were doing.
I’m not normally the kind of person to drop my phone, although I have admittedly dropped it a few times while I was using it and have had no problems with my phone nor the case being damaged; it may feel like a slightly lower quality than some of the more expensive cases, but it’s definitely holding up very nicely! Since the bumper that goes around your phone to secure it down to the case has a lip around the edge of your screen, you won’t even have to worry about the face of your device being damaged.
Overall, I think this case is pretty sturdy, and more importantly is able to quickly and efficiently charge my phone within an hour or two. To my surprise, the case is also MFI certified meaning the chips inside the case are all certified by Apple themselves, so the circuits inside are all safe for your enjoyment! I recommend this case to anybody looking for a cheap, good quality battery charging case for their iPhone 6 or 6S.
